Marine Team Offshore

Marine Team Offshore Ltd is a unique company set up by whale biologists to provide experienced Marine Mammal Observers (MMOs) and Passive Acoustic Monitoring Operators (PAMs) for offshore surveys. Unlike other agencies you will be dealing with whale biologists direct for their services, ensuring that your environmental monitoring is executed to the highest standard. All our observers are guaranteed to have marine biological/environmental training and several years experience at sea surveying for marine mammals.

Support Conservation and Research

Many of our observers fund their own research by taking contracts offshore. Because our observers are trained in marine mammal research, the sightings data collected during offshore surveys is of the highest quality. This data can then be used to investigate marine mammal occurrence - especially important for areas where no previous data has been collected.

Quite simply - employ our observers and you will be supporting marine mammal research.

International Team

We have teams of observers in many areas of the world - UK and Europe, USA, Canada, Brazil, Mexico, New Zealand and Australia. Local observers have a better understanding of marine mammals and mitigation in their area and this also facilitates visa and travel arrangements.

Understanding of Offshore Operations

Many of the Marine Team members have several years experience of offshore monitoring, including seismic surveys, decommissioning projects and military testing of sonar. Therefore, we have a thorough understanding of offshore procedures. We also liaise directly with personnel in the industry for extra training. Working as a collective, Marine Team members share their knowledge and experience with one another through discussions and forums.

Passive Acoustic Monitoring (PAM)

We have an experienced team of Passive Acoustic Monitoring Operators who have expert knowledge of marine mammal acoustics. We are involved in the development of new equipment and software for use offshore and we have recently held our own Passive Acoustic Monitoring Course working with Seiche Measurements Ltd who build acoustic equipment. We can arrange the hire of passive acoustic equipment to suit your project.

Logistical Support

Visa, travel, and invoicing arrangements are provided through collaboration with our logistics company who have 20 years experience of sending personnel offshore. All observers will have, Comprehensive General Liability Insurance, Employer's Liability Insurance, Contingency Medical evacuation and repatriation insurances.
